Practical questions

Can I arrange a consultation from outside China?

Yes. Include your time zone and suitable dates. The appointment should state both China Standard Time (UTC+8) and your local time. Availability and whether the matter can be accepted need to be confirmed.

Can the consultation be conducted in English?

Please confirm the language when arranging the appointment. English-language assistance, interpretation and document translation are not assumed to be included; availability and any additional costs are agreed in advance.

What will it cost?

The Chinese website lists general consultation references. Your scope, duration and fee are agreed before booking. Interpretation, translation and advance document review are included only when expressly agreed.

Does making contact retain the lawyer?

An initial enquiry by phone, WeChat or email does not by itself mean the firm has accepted instructions to act. The firm confirms the client, scope and fees in a written engagement agreement. An agreed consultation and further representation may have different scopes.

What if there is an urgent deadline?

State the date, time and time zone clearly when making contact. Do not assume the deadline is being handled unless the firm has expressly accepted that work.

For the first message, describe the case location, procedural stage, broad question, any known deadline and your time zone. Please leave out identity documents, financial account details, full case files and identifying details about other people.

Before further case material is requested, the firm will confirm the intended recipient, purpose, information needed and the arrangements for handling and sharing it.
